Jonas Akerlund aludes to this in the DVD commentary with (screenwriter) Creighton Vero:
JA: There's a lot of cool music in the movie. Unfortunately we fucked up the opportunity of making a cool soundtrack for the movie.
CV: Yeah, what happened with that?
JA: Like a lot of other stuff with this project, I don't think it's going to happen, but... maybe... we'll see.
