Hello, everyone! I found this site two days ago - it`s very interesting. I`m styding V year of musicology and needing some help. I found very interesting Rebecca Clarke`s Sonata for viola and piano but don`t know anything about the composer. Could someone help me? Thanks! IVANA |

Message | Dear Ivana,
It is indeed a beautiful sonata for viola and piano, isn't it?. A friend of mine actually introduced me to this composition. Here is a web site that would give you some information about the composer: http://ash.swarthmore.edu/womuse/rebecca/leftframe.html
I would also strongly encourage you to listen to the Elegy for Solo Viola by Igor Stravinsky, if you have not done that yet. It has beautiful countrapuntal lines but it is a composition that goes further than just a technique. It transcends into a contemplative, meditative, or even if one wants to percieve it as a melanchionic scene, as well as it portrays calmness and peace. When I first heard this piece, I listened to it over and over again. If you have time please, listen to it and let me know how you perceive this work. Anyone else is welcome to share their thoughts as well.
Shalom,
Biljana <>< |
