Message | With all respect, minimalism is mass production in music. It could be done by robots. This is not human art, it is the result of an exhausted, childish and bored era. Its name says it all. It is not alive because it does not have a link with any great tradition. It is to music what Dada is to poetry.
I wish you all to (re)listen to real music.

Message | Minimalism must have a spectrum in music. Earlier works of David Darling are my fave in jazz. Terry Riley is considered as another minimalist, who is mainly categorised under progressive- rock. He was an ex-member of Curved Air, a british progressive rock band, fronted by an electric-violin player, and a great female vocalist.
Also in rock, the earlier works of Yes ("Fragile", "Close To The Edge", "Relayer" and "Tales From The Topographic Oceans"), and some works of Emerson Lake & Palmer, in my opinion, could be sorted as minimalist music as well as prog-rock.
Another, but not last, fave of mine is Michael Jones.
Cheers.. Levent |
